During the 63rd meeting of the UICN Worldwide Nature Union celebrated in Gland from the 14th to 16th of February 2005, 20 new organizations from all over the world became members, among them, the FCSF.

The FCSF had been accepted in the senate of the Worldwide Nature Union which is the unification of many organizations that exist out of their concern for sustainable development and the conservation of nature.

The San Francisco Cape Foundation for Sustainable Development (FCSF), after working for many years towards the good of the other, for the conservation of the environment in which we involve and settle ourselves, has become accepted in the UICN to become part of this unanimous critique and this collective voice which came together with the mutual goal of preserving the treasure that is the exclusive property of humanity, present and future to strengthen the nexus with other organizations on the planet who find themselves working in the same manner, to gain better practices and skills to improve life and the environment.

Each and every one of us, the members of FCSF, will be those who procreate in those other habitants of our zone, the conscience of taking care of the precious natural resources, so fragile and scarce in the planet, we will continue respecting the life n this mother earth, in all its forms, with generosity and care, trying to achieve the tenacity which means in a blind world, to shine a small light on understanding.

Today is a day of reflection and compromise because being a member of the UICN means influencing, creating awareness and helping the societies of the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and assure that any use of the natural resources be of an equitable manner and ecologically sustainable.

The members of the UICN are the key to achieving these objectives and as such, can help to:

Influence and guide the policies and activities of conservation and sustainable development by being a member of one of the greatest environmental alliances of the world that is governed democratically inasmuch through its participation in the world nature Congresses as with its work among the national and regional committees;

Become part of a collective voice concerning important questions of our era at a local, national, regional and worldwide level and at the same time, reinforce its credibility and capacity through its association with a prestigious recognized international alliance that integrates its members, scientific specialists, administrators and those responsible for the policy to formulate and negotiate solutions to environmental and developmental challenges.

To establish associations and increase its networks through international contact with the governmental and non-governmental members, with the 1000 employees of the Union and the 10,000 experts, thus sharing their competency with the entire worldwide family that is the UICN

To increase its knowledge and capacities and with the help of the UICN prepare and defend declarations regarding the themes of conservation based in the specialized scientific knowledge of its committees.
