A group of health professionals worked on March 23rd and 24th 2005, in San Francisco, in order to attend the people from this town and surroundings.
This group attended the population in General Medicine, 31 cases where the most predominant pathology was the dermatologic type: Scabies, Herpes zoster, Mycosis. Patients with Gastritis, Intestinal parasites, Respiratory problems were also attended and relieved. Some cases of iron deficiency anemia were detected.
There were also some cases of Prostatic Hyperplasia, Arterial Hypertension and Rheumatoid Arthritis in elder adults.
Pediatric patients accounted 24 boys and girls, among whom predominant cases were dermatologic problems, respiratory problems, especially those of viral and gastroenteric origin, together with cases of caloric-proteic malnutrition.
Concerning Optometry, 5 cases were attended, detecting alterations of distant and near vision and come cases of Pterigium y Cataract.
Two particular cases of heart affections were observed, one of the patients presents a lesion, probably genetic, with deficiency in the development of weight and height, while the second case presented VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect), Mitral Valve Insufficiency and Pulmonary Hypertension, cases which shall be treated with surgery, therefore the appropriate means shall be found in order that his family, with scarce economical resources, has access to and specialized center.
Regarding odontology, nine patients were attended: one girl and eight adults, all of them treated accordingly by the dental team using the portable odontology equipment from FCSF. On the other hand, it was evident the lack of biomaterials for the job.
Doctors Ricardo Landín, Doctor, and Wilmer Morán, dental surgeon, who provide the information above, were in charge of this Medical Brigade, supported by the San Francisco Health Committee.
