The FCSF organized, for April 22nd, Earth Day, a competition of children’s art with the theme of “Water, Nature and Life” calling out to boys, girls, and youth of the schools “Eugenio Espejo’ and Colegio Tecnico Agropecuario from the local church.
Children, with few resources of colored pencils, volunteered to participate and were given poster boards to create art work on the proposed theme during the afternoon of April 22.
The teacher Nixon Leon Cheme accompanied them with indications and talks in one of the classrooms until they were all finished with their projects.
An environment of joy made all the children that participated in this event, organized by the FCSF, leave satisfied to their homes with the knowledge that they too helped celebrate this Earth Day. With their projects in hand they were willing to discuss with elders about the reasons why water, and the richness of nature should be taken care of for the future.
Later on, one of the high frequency radios in the Province of Esmeralda interviewed the Executive Director of the FCSF and he exposed the importance of curving deforestations in the region, of taking care of nature and to develop the zone, try to plant trees and utilize the richness of the zone in a sustainable way.
